Love Me In My Entirety

Handmade textile banner featuring lino print.
Dimensions: 1150mm × 1150mm

Materials: organic cotton, linen, velvet, satin and fabric ink.

The banner is partly inspired by the book ‘When I Sing, Mountains Dance’ by Irene Solà. It’s set in the Pyrenees and follows the events that unfold after a husband is struck and killed by lightning along the mountainside. Each chapter is written from different perspectives over time, from villagers, animals, mountains and clouds. The story is captivating because of how it shows the interconnectedness of human and non-human’s stories within the mountains ecosystem.

The title ‘Love me in my entirety’ sewn into the top of the banner is a proclamation to love something as a whole. Love a mountain for its majesty and all the parts that make it.

At the centre of the banner is a lino print of a horse, inspired by the play ‘The Horse of Jenin’ by Alaa Shehada, which tells the true story of a sculpture of a horse built from the debris of war in Palestine. The horse became a symbol of love, freedom and resistance.
